Who writes this
CA2A is written and edited by a California gun owner who teaches and runs ranges rather than one who reads about them. The editor is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, an NROI-certified Range Officer, and a California CCW holder — so the licensing processes covered on this site have been worked through personally, not summarized from someone else’s summary.
That experience continues off the page: regular time on the range, and volunteering to host events for shooters who are newer to it and want a low-pressure place to build competence. The questions people actually ask at those events — the ones that never make it into a statute summary — are where a lot of this coverage starts.
We publish under a consistent editorial byline rather than a personal name. That is a deliberate privacy choice, common among California gun owners for reasons this site has written about at length. The credentials above are real and the standards below are enforced on every article; what we withhold is a home address, not our qualifications.
